All IRSSE officers are in general sincere, mostly conservative (in a positive sense) and hard working like many other Rly men, but it helps to give them better opportunities to get the BEST out of them.

You are all aware that saturation has been affecting IRSSE more than any other Group-A Railway service.

Please go through the following attachments (links) and you will know that  more representation (proportionate) in General cadre posts like GM/DRM/CSO/SDGM/ADRM etc would have put the SAG promotions and carde as such in a in better stead. Apart from links I have put down a summary which many of you might be aware:

  1. Why dont you ensure and publisize that your Department shall not be termed as S&T but as SNT, ie, Signal-Network-Telecom. By this, Network automatically shifts to your domain. Finally, you shall aim for naming yourself as CIS – Communication-IT-Signalling. The priority order, and ensure that other than S&T, the AM-IT, AM-C&IS, GM_CRIS also report to you Member-CIS.

    • The FoIS is being maintetrned by S&T wing officially and there are posts for its maintenance, though on workcharged basis. I believe the S&T wing must be taking some action to get permanent posts for this, as well as for its portion of proper maintenence of PRS & UTS and Railnet, Platform Enquiry & Announcement system etc. Isnt ir?

  2. you have AGM-00, SDGM-00, ED-Vig.-00, DRM-02 only?? ADRM-02 only?? what are you doing about it??

  3. Lot of thanks for giving consolidated details which I feel a lage number of railway officers at field level may not be knowing.
    S&T has played a major role in reducing accidents by introducing track circuiting, last vehicle check and providing interlocking at the stations. If we compare % spent on Signalling with reference to total spent by railways in India with developed counties ,it is far less. The aid to drivers by way of TPWS/ communication based signalling is yet to pickup momentum.
    There is a need to strengthen the organisation and boost the morale of its officers by giving the higher posts, atleast proportionate to the cadre strength. The issue needs to be raised by the Assocition at appropriate level.

  4. Unfortunately the allotment for Signalling works, DFC, TPWS , Crossing Stns etc has come down, thereby both JA/SG/SAG posts of IRSSE will come down and so will be the improvements that are essential to keep Railways fit , efficient , safe and running.

  5. As I understand, Telecom-IT shall be doing the work of Platform Train position display, Train Enquiry & Reservation facilities, Coatch & PF display etc for customers. Are there fixed posts/criteria for manning of these works etc available on net for viewing by us also?

  6. Railway donot engage any extra staff for installing and maintaining the Coach postion and train information boards.The maintenance is inhouse or AMC of OEM. They are connected to Rail servers but not on Internet.

    Irrespective of this, the IR site has a link for “spot your train” which works based on train control servers manned by operating Deptt of Railways and CRIS.

  7. Dear Sir,
    I am working at Bharat Electronics Limited , a navaratna PSU, & I am a serious aspirant of IRSME through IES. but if i join at my present age, I will have only 34 years of service in Railways.
    My question is …..this 34 years really sufficient for becoming atleast GM post in Indian Railways?
